London based pianist, composer, arranger and producer has been a mainstay of the British jazz scene for the last fifteen years performing and arranging for everyone from Elaine Delmar to Claire Martin.
Red Alert isher new trio projectwith the powerhouse of Jack Pollitt on drums – founder member of the popular Brit-soul band Mamas Gun and Tom Mason on bass – an extraordinary musician whose live work includes Lizz Wright and Robert Mitchell.
Red Alert marks a new direction for the trio combining synthesizers with piano. For the forthcoming album, Janette is aiming to develop her contemporary jazz sound using interesting time scapes, strong grooves and a cinematic texture. Her influences are wide-ranging and eclectic, from Dave Brubeck to David Bowie and Herbie Hancock to Goldfrap.
She has never shied away from making music that is complex and challenging but with a keen ear for melody and a powerful sense of rhythm whilst staying true to her unique compositional style.
Her music has been described as being similar to EST and The Bad Plus.
